Social
Programs
If you ever notice people
beside you whose lives are miserable due to difficult circumstances,
the eyes of homeless children and orphans must especially touch
your heart…
Our organization works at building relationships with and providing
for the needs of such children. They need attention, patience
and financial support.
Orphanage graduates project:
Statistics. According to official returns of
the Statistics Authority, every year 250 - 300 children in the
Transcarpathian region become orphans. They spend their childhood
in specialized state institutions.
At the age of 15-16 these children start their adult life. Used
to being so called “state children”, they are not prepared for
their new life, and find it very difficult. Sixteen-year-old teenagers
face their problems alone, without any adults' help or support.
That is why most of them end up in prison, gipsy camps, mental
homes or just on the street being rejected by society and abused.
History.
In March 2001 "Nehemiah" team began to support Verinika,
'a graduate from the school – Domboki orphanage (Mukachevo district).
Now she works at a clothes factory, lives in a dormatory being
able to do housekeeping by herself. Later Sergey and Anzhela,
groupmates of Veronika, also began their independent life. Besides
this, Sergey and Anzhela make beautiful doilies, embroideries
and table - cloths with their own hands, and later on sell those.
It is very encouraging for us that they all are learning to live
their life based on Christian morals, established on a firm foundation.
Activities. Our goals for orphan
children:
1. Find a job (or educational establishment) and a place
to live.
2. Teach housekeeping and personal hygiene.
3. Grow in character and worldview development based on Christian
values.
4. Prepare for a healthy family life and professional carrier.
Social appartment project
In September of 2003 we established a social apartment
for 4 orphanage graduates. It is a place with a home environment,
where teenage girls live under the supervision of several behavioral
teachers (who stay with them in shifts). Each orphan participant
is willing to mature and change, following the rules established
together by all inhabitants of the home. The program for every
girl lasts 1-2 years, until they graduate from their educational
establishment, find a job and have a place to live.
Other girls that still study at the orphanage come to visit on
weekends and hilidays. For some of them this apartment will become
their home after they graduate from the orphanage.
Dorm
project
In September of 2004 we also started helping 6 other
girls who graduated from the Domboki orphanage and do not have
parents. These girls have never lived in their own family. Because
of that their personality development is retarded from their physiology
development (which is absolutely normal). Today they have jobs
at a special clothes factory (for people with hearing disabilities)
in Uzhgorod. The girls live independently in the factory’s dorm,
and are being regularly trained in all developmental areas mentioned
above. The girls desire to overcome the destructive power of their
orphan past, catch up with their contemporaries and become normal
members of society.
Girls Roza, Anya, Tanya, Natasha, Liuba, Kristina.
Special
project
Special destiny awaited for Natasha. She came to ask
for help in June of the year 2002. Being 21 years old, in the
6th month of pregnancy, and having no relatives she had been turned
out to be in the street by herself. Now she and her daughter Andriana
live with a family of Christians not far from Mukachevo.
Luba (she is 19) also doesn’t have parents, and is not married.
Luba gave birth to her son Vitaliy on the 26th of December of
2005. This little family lives at the dorm alone, without any
support. We are trying to help her during this very hard period
of her life.
Our plans for the future
We are deeply convinced that orphan children can have
a full-value life if they are supported at the beginning and most
complicated stage of their independent life.
We therefore plan to establish a Center of Social Help for the
graduates of orphanages in the Transcarpathian region. We also
mean to help orphan children experience a family environment and
get healthy training in all areas of personal development.
How you can help
We would be very grateful to persons and
organizations that, seeing the value of each human life, will
make a decision to help financially, through encouraging letters,
prayers and goods (clothing, foodstuff, books, cooking battery,
bed cloth, stationery etc. ) .
Monthly support of one girl
of the Dorm project is $30
Monthly support of one girl of social apartment project is $100

Social
programs of our partner organization and friends:
*This information is
published by us not with the aim of advertisement of the center,
but in order to inform persons, who might be interested in supporting
it’s activity or adopt the experience our friends gained.
Founded
on the12th of September 1998 in Kovalenkovka (Poltavskaya r-n,
Ukraine) with the aim of rehabilitation of drug and alcohol addicted
people. Director – Ivan Klochan.
The
main rehabilitation method is – work therapy and learning
Christian values. In the program: work at the farm, prayer, Bible
study and living in a united body. The center is subdued to an
accurate daily routine and discipline. Residence at the center
is exclusively voluntary. In case if a person refuses to submit
to the rules – he (she) is to be dismissed from the center unconditionally.
A standard rehabilitation course lasts 6 months (small quantity
of people can stays for longer term). The results are just superb:
out of 450 people who attended the center 80 completed the whole
course, returned to normal life, reestablished their families,
some became ministers and even planted churches.
Unique peculiarity of the center is that, first
of all, rehabilitation (including accommodation and nourishment)
is free (!). Secondly, the team of ministers (workers) of the
center at the head of director labors absolutely free of charge,
permanently being present at the center and physically working
together with the rehabilitants. Considering the absence of permanent
funding source without exaggeration it can be called an exploit.
One of the main features of the center is the cessation of abstinence
pains during the first days of stay! About 90% of people quit
smoking and are being set free from depression and other symptoms
due to abstinence from drugs. This repeating supernatural influence
is ascribed to the action of the Holy Spirit.
Farming, (which includes horn and small cattle,
poultry and different crops) is constantly developing, providing
the center with main agricultural products. But natural economy
of the center is not sufficient for paying for utilities, transportation,
medicine, household devices, food products and other expenses
that require cash.
Good reputation of the center was established
at local authority and militia during 6 years of existence; there
were cases when state social services direct people to the center
for rehabilitation. In the beginning most of neighbors were cautious
about the presence of drug addicted people, but after a bus stop
was build by their efforts, neighbors even started applying for
help.
Information
about the leader. Ivan Klochan, 1969 y.b. In the past
conducted immoral life style, which led him to complete degradation
of person, alcohol addiction and usage of light drugs. Ivan was
about to commit suicide. He repented and started serving Christ
in 1996. After graduating from Nehemiah bible school Ivan felt
called to go in places where people are “held captive in their
spirit, soul and body”. During two years he attended a prison
where church existed, he was offered a role of spiritual mentor
there. But Ivan realized that after jail release many of those
who received Jesus were lost among people, it was hard for them
to come back to normal life. In the process of serving such people
he the idea of creating a rehab center for addicted people was
realized.
Ivan is a good family man: wife Inna, daughters Masha, Nastia,
Anya and son Vanya. Family lives on the outskirts of Kremenchuk
(60 km from rehab center) that is why Ivan often has to sacrifice
his family time for salvation of other people. But love towards
those under wardship doesn’t allow him to settle down and God
gives him special grace in bringing up his children.
Economy of the center, ministers and their families need a special
prayer and financial support.
